Biography
Bessmah earned her Juris Doctor in 2017 from Osgoode Law Hall School and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2018. During her time at Osgoode, Bessmah developed her passion for litigation by participating in moots, including winning the Ontario trial advocacy moot, the Arnup Cup, and advancing to the national Sopinka Cup where she was awarded Best Closing Argument as well as the Art and Science of Trial Advocacy Prize. She also competed in the International Alternative Dispute Resolution Competition in Chicago in 2016, and Scotland in 2017 winning the 1st place prize for her role as advocate. Through the Osgoode Mediation Clinic, Bessmah worked with Toronto courthouses mediating cases and facilitating a timelier resolution for parties.Before joining Kostyniuk & Greenside as an associate, Bessmah practiced at an award-winning litigation boutique in downtown Toronto, representing plaintiffs in a wide array of matters, including, motor vehicle collisions, slip/trip and falls, medical malpractice, nursing negligence, long-term disability claims, and Canada Pension Plan disputes, among others. After that, she practiced at an established defence firm in downtown Toronto in primarily insurance defence litigation.
Bessmah continues to develop her civil litigation practice, utilizing the experience she has honed from both the plaintiff and defence side to manage cases and deliver meritorious results for her clients. Bessmah is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Toronto Lawyers’ Association, and the Advocates’ Society. When not in office, Bessmah is an avid reader and traveler and enjoys MMA training, cycling, and sketching.
